Let The King Come In

I wanted to share a quick note with you all about something that hit me hard during worship on Sunday.  We were singing the line “Let the King come in” and I was thinking to myself that He really doesn’t need our permission.  We don’t need to “let” Him do anything.

Then I thought about Matthew 17 and the demon that had such a hold on this boy that the disciples, who had been empowered by Jesus to cast out demons, couldn’t cast it out.  I was struck by the fact that God, the King of the universe, waits for an invitation to come into our lives, but satan sends his demons in without permission, and they do not leave unless forced to do so by a power that is greater than them - the power of that same King who waits patiently to be invited in.
I’m sitting with that thought this week and marveling yet again at what an amazing God we serve.
